This spring I spent one hour documenting the life of one family: Minna, Andy, Kimi (nearly 3) and Mia (1).
Minna, owner of Pikku (Gosforth’s favourite children’s clothing store and hairdressing salon) invited me to spend Sunday morning with her family to capture some cherished moments before their smallest, Mia, got any bigger.
The session was 95% documentary, with a couple of semi-posed shots to just try to get Mia and Kimi in the same frame together! Let’s face it, children that age move at lightning speed and very rarely sit still so it takes some restraining to get them to stay in one place for 5seconds. To be honest, that’s why I prefer my documentary, storytelling, style sessions to traditional portraits – let children be children, and then you get the best of them. Natural, pure moments. Those little mannerisms and connections that ordinarily go unnoticed and get forgotten.
Here are some of my favourite moments from their session. And if you like what you see and would like to capture your own EveryDay, why not request a New Client Guide and I’ll be in touch to discuss session options?

Why Documentary?
Not sure why you should book a documentary session?
My photography is designed to transport you back in time to that moment. To recreate the memory. To capture it in time for you and your future generations. I’m capturing soon-to-be memories. From the Sunday lunch to the first day at school. Bathtime to playtime. Anything that is special to you. Want to learn more about why documentary photography is actually priceless?
