Rachel and Chris were married at the super stylish Jesmond Dene House, in Newcastle.
The entire day centred around Rachel, Chris, their beautiful daughter Freya …and the love they have for each other.
They literally needed nothing or no one else.
Could you be anymore romantic?
Rachel and Chris invited their lovely neighbours as witnesses and that was it. Just me and the registrars and a fella to control the iPod!
Personally, I couldn’t do the whole elopement thing, I wanted a party too much and I’ll be honest, sometimes, I quite enjoy being the centre of attention (especially when I’m wearing a gorgeous frock), but I absolutely loved these guys for doing it. And the fact that Freya was there to witness her Mummy and Daddy tie the knot, to me, on reflection, what more could you want from your wedding? It was simply beautiful.
This did mean, that for me, I felt the photographs were more important than ever. Little Freya will never remember the day she saw her Mummy and Daddy exchange wedding vows. But she will form her own memories and story of the day from the photographs I took.
And I saw this like a bit of an Unscripted Session. I wanted to capture some of the details, the chaos that is family life – even on your wedding day. The Tommee Teepee machine they took to the hotel room, instead of champagne bottles there were baby bottles and cuddly toys on the bed. But this wasn’t just a wedding day, it encapsulated a chapter in Rachel and Chris’ lives.
I’m so glad that Freya woke up for us to do some beautiful portraits – it wouldn’t have been right just Rachel and Chris alone, but I’m glad we managed to capture a few of those too (before Freya gave us a holler!)
I’m so delighted, honoured, to have been invited by this beautiful family to share their day with them – and most importantly create a collection of images that will become family heirlooms, that will tell Freya the story of the day her Mummy and Daddy got married.
So if you’re planning an intimate elopement or a family wedding, I’d love to share it with you, and to create some beautiful family heirlooms so you can retell and relive your BigDay again, and again and again >>> complete this form and let’s chat! xx
