oh my days – 2016 – what a year. Such an amazing year as a mum, a wife and a photographer. Our little family is blossoming. Our little baby is a baby no more, and quickly becoming a little boy, and also our best friend. Harry brings us so much joy everyday. He’s such a comedian and I love seeing the world through his eyes – every first is an adventure and I don’t know who gets more excited, Harry or Mummy. In the meantime, as Harry gets a bit older, Andy and I are ‘getting our lives back’ a bit. Sleep is a bit more common so I’m certainly feeling more awake and with it, we’re starting to plan more adventures and even going to see KISS in Glasgow this year (don’t ask!).
Unscripted Photography has also blossomed. I have now been in business for just over one year and it has been a whirlwind adventure. 2016 has left me feeling more grateful, exhausted, challenged, fulfilled and masterful in my business. As I look back on all of its charms, I am so thankful for the opportunities that have come my way. I have spent time with some truly wonderful families who have opened their homes, their arms and their hearts to me and my photography. In doing so I have managed to capture some completely beautiful and intimate moments – documenting such precious times of their lives. I’m always amazed at how you all manage to be so open in front of me and my camera. But I do hope that at the end of our sessions you feel I leave more as a friend that just someone you hired to snap your family. Afterall, sometimes I’ve even seen you in your underwear!
On another note, I never started Unscripted dreaming of photographing the BigDays. But, without even publicising the possibility, the wedding enquiries and bookings have begun to roll in. Couples looking for a relaxed photographer who will simply document their days in a raw, yet creative manner have been emailing me and I’m so delighted to be spending time with you capturing these intimate and special moments. 2016 saw me capture my first wedding and now with a few under my belt, I’m so excited to have more weddings already booked for 2017 and even into 2018!!!! Thank you to all you beautiful couples who have faith in me and my vision.
To round up – thank you to my husband, my family, my friends and all of my clients, for all of your support and trust in my abilities. I know that I simply wouldn’t accomplish much without you all . . . here’s my year in review. And here’s to an even more fantastic 2017.
