This weekend I was so excited to visit the newest wedding venue on the Northumberland Map: Barn on the Bay.
Situated within a stone’s throw of Druridge Bay, whilst set amongst cow and sheep fields, Barn on the Bay has the potential to roll a beach wedding, farm wedding, barn wedding and festival wedding all into one.
If you’re a couple looking for the perfect blank canvas to make a venue well and truly yours for an entire weekend, where the world is your oyster in regards to design and style possibilities as well as ceremony locations – this is the place for you.
Enjoy your legal ceremony inside the beautifully quaint Calico Barn and then a humanist ceremony on the beach or in a teepee. Create an intimate reception with close family and friends in the barn or set up a giant yurt complete with bar and rock the night away under twinkle lights and beautiful bunting by Emma Bunting. The yurt can even be set up on the beach! Yes!!!!!! Oh and the bar can move too as it’s in a horse box. (There’s a tearoom in a horsebox too – how fab is that!) I could go on, but honestly – the possibilities are endless. And so awesome.
Then, for accommodation. Theres a beautiful cosy Shepherd’s Hut set up for the bride & groom. For guests, take over the adjoining camping area and create your own festival style wedding – your friends and family can all bring their own tents (there’s even showers). Or set up your own glamping village – the barn will set that up for you. And there’s even extra accommodation in the Calico barn that sleeps up to 18 more if some guests prefer to be indoors.
Andy and I were lucky enough to marry at a venue in Essex which was also a blank canvas. And I LOVED planning all the little details. As we live in a world of pinterest and the best collection of alternative wedding blogs, there is no better time to get creative and really sink your teeth into planning a wedding that is as unique as you. Needless to say, if I were going to tie the knot again – Bay on the Barn would be top on my list!
So if you’re not scared of creativity, rain and wellies* – this is the venue for you.
*let’s face it – a venue in northumberland whether next to the beach or not – you need to be prepared!
