The moment I received their questionnaire I knew the Steel-Hoath family were going to be a hoot.

Sarah found me through The Inspire Network, a fabulous network of Northeast business owners, entrepreneurs and general go-getters.  She decided to book me for a 3hour documentary session (minus film) to capture her family, simply chilling at home.

Sarah and Dave, her husband, have two adorable boys, Hugo and Oscar.  Hugo (2yrs), with the most adorable curly red hair – I know from my own, that the curly ones are always the cutest, (I am biased though) and cheeky to boot.  Whilst Oscar, just 3 months, who was just getting used to the world around him, was so incredibly smiley and clearly had a beautiful relationship with his older brother already.

So after initial introductions, there was a conversation that went a little bit like this:

Sarah: So I reminded Dave last night that we had the photographer coming over, to which he said

    Dave:  To do what again?

Sarah: To take photos of us at home

    Dave: Doing what?

Sarah: Just doing our normal thing.  It’s a documentary sessions.

Dave: Does that mean she’s going to photograph us in our pyjamas watching TV all morning?!?

As it was . . . whilst Dave had managed to get dressed, we really did just chill at home.  Hugo and Dave enjoyed a bit of Paw Patrol, Mummy and Hugo made a good-behaviour chart, there was an attempt at a balance bike ride, playtime, snacks and snuggles.  You could say they did ‘nothing‘.  But you know what, it was some of the most fun and beautiful ‘nothing‘ I’ve ever witnessed.

The comedy between Sarah and Dave was priceless.  The connection between the boys and their parents: beautiful.  I was honoured to have the chance to capture Sarah as she nurtured baby Oscar.  This ‘nothing‘ made for the loveliest of sessions.  And their characters RADIATE throughout each image.

So, if you’re thinking of a session, but concerned about ‘nothing‘ looking good in your story, thinking you’re just a boring family . . . well don’t!  Your story is special.  It’s beautiful.  It’s yours!  And my images, and film will tell the story of WHO you are.  Even in your PJs.  (Request a New Client Guide if you’re ready to capture your Everyday)

In the meantime, here’s Sarah, Dave, Hugo and Oscar’s story of ‘nothing.’  In my opinion, it’s magic!
