I can only assume that the first two items of the to do list are now crossed off because this weekend the ‘Wedding’ is finally taking place!
It was nearly a year ago that I met Rosie, Gavin, the gorgeous Samuel and Neve. I spent a beautifully sunny Sunday morning with them in the fabulous home in Nottinghamshire. It’s probably not the case at all, but I often feel I rarely see the sunshine when I do family sessions up north, and then I go down south and I have the most brilliantly warm, in fact scorching, day with these guys. As I sit here writing this and it’s the middle of may and we still have the heating on in the evenings and I think back to that glorious day, I begin to dream of BBQs and ice-creams and my face turning into one giant freckle as it tends to do every summer!
Anyway. I digress.
So, I spent this lush morning with these guys. Little Neve just crawling around barefoot. Dad Gavin trying to make the kids laugh, although in typical toddler fashion: Samuel refused to ride his bike himself, but he certainly was not happy that Daddy was sitting on it. Toddlers eh! My favourite family sessions are pretty much just this. Just chilling at home. It gives families time to come out of their shells, the kids feel comfortable as they’re in familiar surroundings, and ultimately you capture all that is really important to you. You, being you. I loved that I managed to capture Rosie feeding Neve and the yoghurt face that was therefore created. I LOVE the shot of their dogs waiting ever so patiently for the crumbs that would be undoubtedly dropped from above. I love Gavin grabbing Samuel and carrying him off Fireman style. It’s just all real life.
And as much as I was ecstatic to capture their EveryDay, I’m soooooo excited that this weekend Rosie and Gavin have invited me back to capture their BigDay. I just know that it’s going to be a fabulous day all focused around family.
