Spending the morning with Jessica and her family, I immediately felt at home. They were so warm. So welcoming. Such fun.

There was so much about them that reminded me of my own family. I loved the way they were so close knit, frankly being quite rude to each other, but you knew it was actually a sign of how much they love one another. No different to my own family.

I arrived just after dawn. It was the middle of December, so actually that’s quite a bit later than it sounds. Mummy Jessica was already in the kitchen making coffee, but everyone else was tucked up in bed.

The house actually belongs to Jessica’s Mum and Step-Dad. It was a beautiful home on the outskirts of Ponteland. Full of gorgeous treasures collected over the years, family photos and of course Christmas decorations.

After grabbing herself and hubby Mike their much needed caffeine fix, we snuck upstairs to start our session. Baby Lola was just stirring in her cot and Mike was still cosy in bed. It was lovely to capture this special time for this gorgeous couple. Babies grow and change so quickly, it’s not long before lazy morning snuggles make way for the constant request to boing on the bed instead.

After cuddles, it was time to get ready, although Lola tried her best to interrupt proceedings by weeing in Daddy’s hand – priceless! Following that fun, we headed downstairs to join the rest of the Clan. Jessica, Mke and Lola currently reside in Dublin as Mike plays rugby for Leinster, so the house was full to see them off as it was their last day in Northumberland.

There was so much laughter in that house. It was beautiful to behold. So many jokes and jibes. And so much love for Lola. Everyone was vying for a cuddle.

And I must say, what a classy bunch of ladies. All so pretty. All so kind. Both Angie and Anna, Grandmothers to Lola, and not forgetting Aunty Stephanie – you couldn’t ask for more beautiful classy people to look up to as you become a young woman yourself. I was blown away by their style and good-natures.

After a hearty breakfast, we headed into the garden for a quick family portrait and some fresh air – the sun was actually out for a change! Bruno, the family dog, also got to have a good run around – and Mike thought it would be fairly entertaining to see if Lola could ride him – I don’t think Lola was having any of it, neither was Bruno!

I genuinely had a lovely morning with this gorgeous, fun-loving family. And I hope that should I ever be in Dublin or indeed Jessica, Mike and Lola are back in Northumberland, I may get the opportunity to help document the next steps in their lives.
