As my first calendar year in business comes to an end, I’m reflecting back on all the wonderful families I have met and the stories I have told.
And then it dawned on me. Last December, I had only been in business for a month, and I was crazy busy and loving it, and then the snow came. Bam. Just at the right moment because I had a shoot! A fabulous little family shoot in Chopwell Woods. Oh, it was like the planets aligned. The snow was enough to add magic to our session but not too much that we couldn’t get to the woods, the sun was out twinkling in the background through the trees, and the family were just soooooo much fun.
And I never shared this wonderful day with you.
But although this session was a year ago, and perhaps now I look back with a critical eye as I have learnt so much in just one year of business, I can’t help but have a soft spot for this family and this photoshoot. It was such a relaxed session. Snowballs flying here, there, and everywhere, a snowman just so happened to be in the woods when we arrived, the kids brought their sledges so even Mum and Dad were whizzing about. I smiled for the entire hour and then some that we were together.
Paul, aka Dad, is also a local photographer at LovePhoto Photography. And as much as us photographers enjoy taking photographs, it’s not so easy for us to appear in the images with our loved ones. Planning is always required. So the candid, in the moment, documentary style family shots are often few and far between. Hence, he dropped me a line to request some natural shots of him enjoying time with his family and I was more than happy to oblige. I’m sure he was chuffed I arranged such perfect weather conditions too! Paul – you and your family were a great laugh. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful 2016 and all the best for 2017. xx
So, here’s a throwback to the one snowy day we had last year . . . I really hope we get some more this winter as families and snow make for the perfect combination for beautiful memories and beautiful photographs.
