    School Fine Art Portraits –

    The Revolution Has Begun ….

I’m so very excited and proud to showcase our latest addition to Unscripted … The SchoolDay.  A full, all encompassing school photography service from school marketing photography, to pedological documentation training AND our exciting new School Portrait offering.

These are school portraits…but not your standard boring school photos with ‘cheesy backdrops, kids standing tall and forced smiles. No these are Fine Art Portraits and they are COMPLETELY different. Timeless…Personal….Art. Fine Art portraits are designed to capture character and emotions, not just smiles.  And they belong on your walls.

Not just because I am photographer but as a parent, I really understand the value of having beautiful photos of my kids and the school photo is no exception. They offer a record of that time but I wanted more than a record, I wanted photos that actually showed them as they are, as I see them, with all their character but natural, not forced. I also loved the idea of having choices about what photo to order which meant when I started doing this, I was going to take a lot of photos and I mean loads of  photos.

My first school booking was a wonderful Nursery: Beechdale Nursery in Consett. I wasn’t sure how it would feel to photograph so many kids in such a short amount of time, especially with what I was hoping to get in terms of photos but turns out, it was brilliant and really fulfilling to see and capture just how unique all the children were.

‘A smile is just one expression’.

Thats the thing with kids, you really don’t know what you’re going to get and that’s the fun bit but I strongly believe that a smile does not always make the photograph, its one expression and theres so much more to your child!

Fine Art Portraits  – It’s your school photo but it is also ‘fine art’ for your walls!

As a parent, I didn’t just want an obligatory photo to “record” my little man’s time at school.  I really felt I wanted more.   A few other parents and friends started to voice the same thoughts.    In  fact, as I started to ask around, a lot of parents I spoke to did not like their child’s school photo, some refused to buy a bad photo and some bought a single token copy, a record for the memory box, especially those who had received the super traditional photo with the same traditional print packages (you know the ones I mean – from those those larger, quite impersonal companies).

BTW – it’s Ok to admit that you don’t like your kids school photo…especially when you know you could have so much better.

School Fine Art Portraits – The Revolution Has Begun

And so I’m on a journey…a journey to revolutionise ‘the school photo’. I believe you should love your child’s school photo. I believe that your school photos CAN be art and that you should WANT to display them on the wall.

So if you’re a Head Teacher, a passionate parent on the PTA  or the School Admin thats holding it all together and you want something like this for your School or Nursery, then please – get in touch.
